Block 8

block8 office inside view

The day I walked into the Block8 office to discuss the possibility of doing this project, I was intimidated with the energy and enthusiasm reflecting everywhere in their work culture vibe. As expected the brief was experimental and anything but unconventional.

The site was a designer’s delight with perfect proportions, a great view and abundance of north light. Being a techie’s wife, I was well aware that nothing else is glittery about the life of these techies apart from the digits in their paychecks .They spend long working hours slogging and scratching their heads at that 3 feet wide workstation.

It was then that the idea of creating a green patch around the work stations struck which would also frame the view of the hills visible from the windows, like actually giving the feeling of working on the foothills.
Expecting not many visitors apart from interviewees, we created a layer of completely private meeting rooms, the semi-private work area and a totally unwinding break-out area for the team.
The phone booths were added as a playful element and the client input of a vintage one that could be parked anywhere, was a perfect icing on the cake.
